A British teenager has been found dead in a French ski resort after failing to return to his accommodation following a night out.

Kieron Flux, from Newport on the Isle of Wight, had been on holiday with his family in Val d'Isere when he disappeared in the early hours of Tuesday morning, reports Travel Mole.

He was last seen leaving a bar in the resort at 1.30am. A large search by police and mountain rescuers uncovered his body at 2.30pm on Wednesday.

According to the Mirror, he was found in the Gorges de la Daille, a deep and isolated spot between the Daille area of the resort and the Chevril lake.

The paper adds that the he had been in a pub in the centre of the resort, and the area where he was staying with his family, Fornet, was in the opposite direction to where his body was found.

La Daille is the location of the Folie Douce, one of the resort's most well-known nightclubs.

Police have launched an investigation into his death.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman told the Daily Telegraph: "We are aware of the death of a British national in France.

"We are providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time."

Val d'Isere is a popular resort with British tourists, and is located inn south-eastern France, near the border with Italy.
