Tube passengers burst into song on London Underground

An Erasure fan brought joy to the London Underground when he belted out a 1980s classic - and got the whole platform to join him.

Neil Francis, from Great Yarmouth, was waiting for his train at Kentish Town Tube station when he started singing Erasure's A Little Respect.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: "I love the sound of the acoustics in the tube station, so I thought 'give it some'. It went mental, and got louder and louder."

He admitted having a couple of drinks before the impromptu performance but said other passengers asked him to continue singing once they got on the train.

A video of him singing has gone viral and has been viewed 363,000 times on YouTube.

A couple of Christmases ago, 80s legend Kim Wilde become an internet sensation after a video of her serenading train passengers with two classic hits was posted on YouTube.

The pop singer, 52, was filmed wearing sparkly reindeer antlers and singing Kids in America and Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree as her brother Ricky Wilde accompanied her on the acoustic guitar.

The merry duo was heading home after a Magic FM Christmas party.

They were on the train from London King's Cross, approaching Potters Bar in Hertfordshire on a First Capital Connect service.

Katherine Eames, an actress who posted the video on YouTube, said: "After a truly rubbish day, I got on the train home and couldn't get a seat. A man pulled out his guitar. 'Oh here we go,' I thought.

"'Hang on a minute, I know that voice.' It really was Kim Wilde. This totally made my day. Thank you. She is an absolute legend. Merry Christmas everyone."
