Winter holidays are on the rise and if you too are looking for somewhere exotic and sunny to chase away the winter blues, you don't have to break the bank as some of the hottest holiday destinations are affordable this winter.
Over 12 million Brits are planning a winter sun holiday for the 2014/15 season making the getaways more popular than ever, new research from ABTA has revealed. 43 per cent of Brits are heading for sunnier climes this winter, while 35 per cent have opted for a city break and 18 per cent are taking a winter sports or ski trip.
The Canary Islands, North Africa and the Caribbean are among the most favourable winter sun destinations, while farther-flung spots, such as Bali and Goa, are also offering cheap winter getaways for bargain-hunters.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BOOK A CHEAP WINTER HOLIDAY?
It doesn't have to be all fly and flop either, as there's culture, history and plenty of activities to keep you entertained on a winter sun holiday. Hiking, kayaking and golfing are just three reasons to visit the Algarve (it's family-friendly too!), while shopaholics will love the markets and culture of Marrakech. And Brad and Angelina's visit to Malta put the country firmly on the map this year and there's no better time than winter to explore the cobbled streets, beautiful beaches and breathtaking countryside without the crowds.
