Two men had a very lucky escape after their car was swallowed by a sinkhole on a busy road in China.

CCTV footage shows them escaping their vehicle just as it dangles over the edge of the hole.

It then falls in and lands on its roof.

According to the Independent, the hole was caused by the collapse of sand beneath the road's surface about half an hour before the sinkhole appeared.

A truck ran over the surface of the weak spot, causing the tarmac to collapse.

The BBC reports that the sinkhole was around 13ft wide.

Back in February, a family in Buckinghamshire were left in shock after their car disappeared overnight down a 30ft deep sinkhole which opened up in the driveway of their house.

Firefighters were called to the property in Main Road, Walter's Ash, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, at 8.32am in the morning, where they found the hole which was 15ft in diameter.

The Volkswagen Lupo was at the bottom of the hole, covered in mud.

A Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Firefighters were called to a sinkhole (30ft deep, 15ft diameter) which swallowed a parked car in the driveway of a house in Main Road, Walter's Ash."

Nobody was injured in the incident.

And, according to Sky News, earlier this month, a woman had to be rescued by firefighters after falling into a three-metre sinkhole, which opened up while she was hanging out her washing in Australia.
