Tube groper banned from Central Line for attacking same woman twice

A man who was found guilty of sexually assaulted a woman twice on the Tube has been jailed for 16 months and banned from the London Underground's Central line during rush hour for the next five years.

Mohibur Rahman, 35, from Shoreditch targeted the same woman twice.

On February 3 he slid his hand across her hips and squeezed her bottom as she travelled between Chancery Lane and Bank.

When his victim confronted him, he held both his hand up in the air and said "sorry" before fleeing, reports London24.

On February 20 as the woman made her way up the escalators at Holborn station, he struck again, putting his hand up her skirt and touching her bottom.

She confronted him once again, following him out of the station and grabbing him by the collar. She then reported him to the British Transport Police.

He was sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court last Friday. On top of a 16-month jail sentence, he is banned from travelling on the Central Line from 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm. Rahman also cannot enter Holborn station between Mondays and Fridays or contact the victim, reports the Evening Standard.

Detective Constable Darren Davies said: "We take all sexual offences seriously and we are pleased that Rahman has been locked away for this crime and that we successfully were granted the order banning him from parts of the Tube Network.

"The victim was left extremely distressed and angered by this assault but, we are extremely grateful to her for coming forward and reporting the incident, which allowed us to carry out an investigation and bring Rahman to justice."
