Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs in £2m delay for opening of football hotel

Manchester United stars Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have been hit with a delay for the opening of their football-themed hotel as they are £2 million out of budget.

Hotel Football was set to open on 8 December 2014 in Manchester but the project has now been delayed by four months.

According to the Daily Star, the extra time will be used for improvements to the banqueting and conference facilities, as well as an extension to the football pitch.

A source told the newspaper: The lads want to get everything spot on and don't want to cut any corners just to keep to a schedule.

"It's only natural you want to get it finished and open the doors as quickly as possible."

DNA reports that a hotel spokesman confirmed the hotel will open in March.

Giggs and Neville's 133-room hotel, opposite Old Trafford, will offer rooms for £160 per night and boast a football pitch on the roof.

On the new venture, Neville said: "Ryan and I have spent so much of our lives playing at Old Trafford and appreciate everyone who supported us there over the years.

"To make sure that the hotel appeals to everyone, not just football fans, we are working with some of the most talented people in the industry to create something unique and inviting – with a focus on excellent customer service."
