Man runs over his own head in 'cigarette accident'
A Colorado man has been left with life-threatening injuries after managing to run over his own head.
The man had reportedly been smoking a cigarette inside his car while backing out of his driveway when he dropped it down the front of his jacket.
He instantly jumped out of the car in order to avoid getting burned, reports ITV News.
But, in the meantime, the car was already moving and the driver fell under the front tyre, suffering severe head injuries.
According to Gawker, an adult male sitting in the front seat of the car was unharmed.
USA Today reports that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and police do not anticipate filing any charges.
But they did remind passengers to try and avoid the dangers of distractions wherever possible.
The victim is said to be in a critical condition but likely to survive.
It's not the first time such an incident has occurred. According to the Welwyn Hatfield Times, back in August, a postman managed to run himself over with his own van in Burnham Green.
While, back in 2005, East 17 singer Brian Harvey suffered severe injuries, including a shattered pelvis, when he ran over himself with his Mercedes.
He said he had eaten "a load of jacket potatoes" and opened his car door to be sick.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, he said: "Instead of putting my foot on the brake, I put it on the accelerator and it flew back, I must have hit four or five parked cars. It must have thrown me out of the car.
"My stomach was pushed into my lungs, which collapsed, and I was told the heel of one of my feet was found up round the back of my head."
