A bear cub has been caught on camera taking a leisurely dip in a family's backyard pool.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, Erica Lushefski, of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, said: "I peeked around the corner and saw the bear, so I went downstairs to check our [surveillance] cameras.

She said she was "shocked" to find the bear had also taken a dip in her pool.

"I screamed," Lushefski said. "The kids were like, 'Why you screaming?' and I said, 'There's a bear in our pool!'"

Lushefski and her three children, 10-year-old Maria, 7-year-old Mary and 4-year-old Nina, watched as the bear spent about 10 minutes playing in and around their swimming pool.

But Nina was reportedly not so happy when the cub popped the inflatable pool ball.

Erica added that the bear had been seen around the neighbourhood with its mother and sibling for the last few months, but that they would soon go into hibernation for winter.

In early September, a reasonably large bear was caught on camera escaping the California heatwave - by taking a dip in one family's swimming pool.

Homeowner Thomas See arrived back at the house in Sierra Madre to find the bear cooling off in the water one Sunday afternoon.

According to the Mirror, the bear swam around in the pool for about 15 minutes before leaving.
