Why was this bus full of potatoes driving through Limerick City, Ireland yesterday?

Passers by were baffled by the sight - but it wasn't the only unusual sighting in the Irish city this week.

Gardai (local police) were also pictured checking out some mysterious giant footprints.


So, what's going on?

It could have something to do with the giant granny visiting the city this weekend.


The 25 foot tall giant Granny will roam the streets of Limerick as part of the biggest event of Limerick City of Culture 2014, reports the Mirror.

According to the Daily Edge, it takes 70 people in total to operate the Granny, who will "eat, drink and sleep" on the streets of the city this weekend.

The event organisers are expecting 100,000 visitors to come see Granny over the three days.

This could be the largest event in the city since the Pope came to visit in 1979.
