Rainstorm creates 'indoor waterfall' at new £400m railway station
A multimillion pound railway station in China has been turned into an indoor waterfall by a rainstorm.
The downpour hit Shijiazhuang city, capital of Hebei province, on Thursday night and the water passed through the ceiling of the newly-built Shijiazhuang Railway Station, soaking the passengers waiting inside.
Shanghaist reports that the design of the £400m station was blamed by social media users for the leak. The building has windows in the roof to take advantage of natural lighting and when there is heavy rain it is hard to close them in a timely matter.
The station apologised for the inconvenience caused after dozens of services were suspended.
It comes just days after China's replica of the Sydney Opera House was forced to close due to a major water leak in the roof.
According to News.com.au, the building could be closed for months while it is repaired.
The replica building is a waterfront restaurant in Fuxin, northern Liaoning province.
It was built four years ago and cost £100,000.
