A bus driver kicked passengers off during a 30-mile journey across Wiltshire as he had "gone over his hours".

The driver stopped in Pewsey and ordered everyone off the Salisbury to Wiltshire bus, telling them they would have to wait for the next bus for about an hour, ITV News reports.

A 13-year-old girl was one of the passengers travelling on the bus and missed her dental appointment.

Freya Mundy's father Andrew told Western Daily Press that "it's almost impossible to believe that this should be allowed to happen."

Speaking to ITV News he said there were "verbal exchanges" between passengers and the driver, who refused to go any further.

Salisbury Reds, the company that operates the service, said it was investigating the incident.

Andrew Sherrington, of Salisbury Reds, said: "We pride ourselves on the high level of service we provide here in Wiltshire and I am concerned when any of our customers are unhappy.

"In view of this, we are conducting a full internal investigation to determine the reasons behind this event."

According to Gazette and Herald, a similar incident occurred in May, when mother Lorna Pollard said her 22-year-old special needs son had to walk five miles home after the driver stopped the service as there were no passengers on board in Pewsey.

She said: "I was furious because I rely on the bus to keep him safe and bring him home from work."
