A well-meaning man who rushed to help his neighbour after a tornado hit his home was shocked to find his stolen property amongst the rubble.

The man ran over to his neighbour's home after witnessing it being damaged in the storm. No one was home - but he did find some of his own possessions that had recently been stolen.

The owner of the house in Tennessee, Jerrod L Christian (pictured), 26, had his neighbour's air compressor, as well as other household appliances belonging to him, including a hose, a welder, a ratchet and a weed trimmer.

According to the Metro, Christian is thought to have been in possession of stolen objects worth £1,180.

On Monday night, Christian had pending charges on two counts of burglary, one count of theft over $500 and one count of theft over $1,000.

Kingsport Police Department Public Information Officer Tom Patton told the Kingston Times News that he was questioned on Monday at Sullivan County jail in Blountville.

The paper reports that Christian has since been jailed for a separate incident that occurred the day before the tornado.

Back in May, a mini tornado struck a pub car park - in Worcester.

The unusual phenomenon was caught on camera by tiler Ross Withers, 24, who spotted the 20ft tall twister while enjoying a drink with friends in Cripplegate Park on Saturday 3 May.

The tornado is seen swirling around near cars and people, before it then fizzled out near a fence.
