A woman and her son were injured after their car was swallowed by a sinkhole in America.
Juanita Pineda, 41, and Benjamin Hernandez, 15, were driving along a dark road in the early hours of Tuesday when their car fell into the three-metre pit in the road in Kane County.
NBC Chicago reports that as Juanita dialled 911, a truck drove over them after the driver did not see them.
"We were very lucky that that person who flew over us, that he flew over, not on top of us," Pineda said.
According to Sky News, Benjamin fractured his spine, nose and jaw, losing several teeth in the accident.
He is still recovering in hospital.
Authorities said the road had crumbled due to the double than average rainfall in the region in June.
