Police in St Ives offer £2,500 reward in hunt for hotel thief
Police in St Ives are offering a £2,500 reward for any information leading to the arrest of a man in connection with an alleged theft in a hotel in the town.
Malcolm Clement, 53, is suspected of taking a large sum of cash from a safe in the St Ives Harbour Hotel last month.
The safe was opened using a key and the money was taken sometime between 6.30pm on Wednesday May 28 May and 6.30am on Thursday May 29 2014.
The hotel has put up the reward for information leading to the arrest of the man they believe is responsible, reports the Cornishman.
Detectives are eager to speak to the Birmingham man and are appealing to the public for help locating him.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Clements also has links to the Torbay are and the wider Midlands region.
He is described as white, around 5ft 7ins, with blue eyes, a portly stomach and mousy, thin hair. He sometimes wears glasses and has a Birmingham accent.
Investigating officer DC Alex Pym said: "We are keen to speak to Mr Clements as he may be able to assist us with our investigation. We urge anyone who knows where is he to contact us."
