Bride killed, groom injured in car crash on the way to their wedding

A bride was killed and her groom seriously injured in a tragic car accident on the way to their wedding in Alabama, US.

Brittany Huber, 25, and her fiancé, John Redman, were driving to their home town to get married when Redman lost control of his Lexus.

New York Daily News reports that Huber was killed instantly, while Redman suffered serious injuries.

The couple were driving on Interstate 85 in Georgia when their car slammed into a concrete wall during a rainstorm.

They were due to be married on Saturday, instead her family gathered on Friday for her funeral.

Mr Redman remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Tracey Watson told the Dalton Daily Citizen that Redman was driving too fast.

Nine MSN reports that Georgia State Patrol said the wild weather at the time of the crash was not a factor in the incident.

Last week it was reported that a Canadian woman who killed a teenager after crashing her car into him and his friends while they were cycling is suing the dead boy.

Sharlene Simon has filed a claim against Brandon Majewski's family after killing the 17-year-old in October 2012.

Simon alleges that she "sustained serious and permanent injuries to important physical, mental and psychological functions" after the crash in Ontario, Canada.

Her claim states "enjoyment of life has been irretrievably lessened."

According to the Toronto Star, Majewski's family lawyer has called the claim "distasteful".

Brandon was killed while his friend, 16-year-old Richard McLean, was seriously injured when they were hit by Ms Simon's car on a dimly-lit road. A third boy, Jake Roberts, 16, was uninjured.
