A squirrel took exception to being included in a tourist's selfie - and attacked him after saying 'cheese'.

Reddit user supplenupple was taking a walk in Tampa, Florida, when he spotted the critter and thought it would be nice to take a photo.

According to the Metro, he said: "I approached it making a clicking noise with my tongue; phone drawn.

"When I got close enough, the squirrel actually tried grabbing my phone. I shook it off, then snapped this photo."

But, the bushy-tailed bonding moment didn't last long. Seconds later, the squirrel jumped on his new pal, and tried to get under his clothes.

Speaking to Buzzfeed, he added: "Next thing I knew, the squirrel was on my shoulder, then under my shirt, and then hanging off my back!' he said.

"This photo is courtesy of my mum, who collapsed laughing shortly after."

The 'victim' uploaded his pics to Imgur, entitled 'Went in for a selfie, got a rabies shot'.

But, in fact, he confirmed he did not need a rabies shot after all.
