A man's body has been found on the beach at St Annes in Blackpool.

The man has not yet been identified and the death is being treated as unexplained.

A police spokesman told the Blackpool Gazette: "Shortly after 8am today, police were called following the discovery of the body of a man on the beach at St Annes.

"The body was discovered on the sand opposite Beach Road. Emergency services attended and the body is being recovered.

"Enquiries are underway to identify the man and the death is being treated as unexplained at this time."

The Liverpool Coastguard confirmed they were assisting police with identifying and recovering the body.

The news comes just months after the body of a man in his 50s was discovered on the same beach at St Annes.

Officers said early indications showed that man had collapsed and died while out walking.

And, just two months ago, a man's body was found washed up on the beach in Fleetwood, close to Rossall point.
