A hot-headed 80-year-old pensioner caused train delays in Scotland on Thursday morning after she had to be removed by British Transport Police.

Staff on board the 6.33am Aberdeen to Glasgow Queen Street service run by Scotrail requested the woman be removed after a dispute over a ticket.

Some trains travelling through the station were delayed after the 7.30am incident, but services were back to normal by 9am.

A spokesman for British Transport Police told the Evening Telegraph: "An 80-year old woman was removed from the train by police officers at Arbroath following a request by the on-train staff as the result of a ticket dispute."

According to the Guide and Gazette, a ScotRail spokesperson said: "Due to a disruptive passenger on board a train at Arbroath at about 7.30am, services through this station were disrupted for a time this morning."
