Teenager dies after falling on train tracks and being electrocuted

A teenager has been killed after accidentally falling from the platform at Horley Station, Surrey.

The boy was electrocuted by the live track and was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police (BTP) were alerted to the incident at 8.41pm last night.

Fire crews and the ambulance service also attended the scene near Gatwick Airport.

A BTP spokesman said: "On arrival officers discovered the body of a male who is believed to have been electrocuted after falling from the platform and coming into contact with the live power rail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are working to confirm his identity and inform his family."

He added: "At this stage officers believe there are no suspicious circumstances and the incident appears to have been the result of a tragic accident."

A spokesman for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said the victim was believed to be a teenage boy.
