Woman's home burgled by Facebook 'friend' while she was on holiday

A woman returned from a holiday with her children to find that her home had been burgled by a Facebook 'friend'.

Stacey Grant, from California, had posted social media updates while on holiday in Las Vegas.

She received a call from police while on her family break and was told that her house had been burgled and that three men had been arrested.

Speaking to NBC Los Angeles, Grant said she regularly shares her whereabouts with her Facebook friends and had written: "Just made it to Las Vegas with my family."

She said that one of the men, Michael Baston, 21, had texted her asking how her trip was going and how long she was away for.

Grant said: "It was hurtful. My whole room was trashed, there were clothes everywhere. My bed was gone."

Within hours, she had received the call saying her house had been burgled by Baston and two other men, Philip McKnight, 32, and Tyrone Gibson, 20.

Neighbours told KTLA that when they saw the men at her house, they assumed they were relatives.

They were seen loading a van with Grant's belongings and were arrested when police happened to be in the area at the time of the break in.

Martha Guzman-Hurtado, a spokeswoman for the Fontana Police Department, told NBC: "It serves as a reminder to be very careful of what you post on social media sites."
