Who says you have to get on a plane to find the best beaches in the world?
Rhossili Bay in Wales (pictured) has just been named one of the world's best beaches for the second time in a row, beating well-known hotspots in Spain, Greece, Italy and Turkey as well as more tropical destinations including those in the Seychelles, Mexico and Australia.
TripAdvisor's Travellers Choice best beaches in the world for 2014 named the three-mile stretch of sand and towering cliffs on the Gower peninsula as the ninth best beach in the world.
First place went to Baia do Sanco, Fernando de Noronha, Brazil, a UNESCO world heritage site. Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos and Flamenco Beach in Puerto Rico came second and third respectively.
Rhossilli is also named as Europe's third-best best beach, beaten only by Rabbit each in Lampedusa, Italy, and Playa de ses Illetes, in Formentera, Spain.
Reviewers who have been to Rhossilli praise it for being "unspoilt" with "amazing views". "You won't be disappointed. Beautifully clean sand and stunning views. A real gem," says one.
Travellers' Choice Beaches Award winners were based on the quality and quantity of travellers' reviews and ratings on Tripadvisor over the past 12 months.
