New railcard offers one third off train travel

Updated

A brand new railcard will launch in the UK next Monday, giving pairs of passengers who travel together - one third off adult rail fares.

The Two Together Railcard costs £30 a year and there's no limit on the number of times it can be used. The railcard can be purchased online or at any National Rail station nationwide and is valid on standard and first class tickets anytime and off-peak and advance tickets after 9.30 Monday to Friday and all day on weekends and bank holidays.

The average saving with a Two Together Railcard is expected to be over £100 a year, says National Rail.

David Mapp, commercial director at ATOC (the Association of Train Operating Companies), said: "The Two Together Railcard is the first new national Railcard in 30 years and will make train journeys even more attractive for pairs of passengers nationwide.

"As well as savings on rail travel, the new railcard also offers savings on attractions, theatre shows, restaurants, hotels and more."
