The body of a man has been found washed up on a beach in Blackpool.

The remains were found in Fleetwood, close to Rossall Point, at around 6.40pm on 17 February.

The Fleetwood Coastguard and police attended the scene.

A Spokesman for Lancashire police told the Blackpool Gazette: "Police responded to reports a body has been found on the beach at Fleetwood around 6.40pm today.

"The body is that of a man and his death is currently being treated as unexplained.

"An investigation is underway."

The news comes just five months after the body of a man in his 50s was found on the beach at St Annes by a dog walker.

And, back in June 2012, the BBC reported that three men were arrested on suspicion of murder when the body of a man in his 40s was found on Blackpool beach.
