Mum strangled in Dublin hotel room

A mum of one was found dead at the Plaza Hotel in Dublin after celebrating her son's third birthday.

Sonia Blount, 33, was discovered tied up with marks on her neck in her hotel bedroom.

The Irish Independent reports that Irish police believe she was strangled. A man has been arrested.

Plaza Hotel staff found Ms Blunt's body while cleaning the rooms on Sunday.

The man arrested is believed to be a 31-year-old from Clondalkin who handed himself over to police, the BBC reports.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out today.

The young mum, from Tallaght, reportedly booked herself into the hotel and parked her car near the front door.

Gardaí are using CCTV footage from the hotel, as well as Ms Blount's car and phone to determine how she spent her last hours.
