A British man has been arrested after allegedly trying to snatch a four-year-old child who was playing outside his grandmother's home in Lanzarote.
The 25-year-old man, was was thought to be holidaying alone, appeared in court on Monday after the incident took place at around 6pm in the tourist resort of Puerto del Carmen on Sunday, reports the Daily Mail.
It is believed neighbours of the alleged victim knocked on the family's door to tell them the child was walking off with a strange man.
The family managed to track him down and retrieve the child.
It is thought they were a Spanish family visiting the boy's grandmother.
According to the report in the Daily Mail, a spokesman for the Civil Guard in Lanzarote, which made the arrest, said: "The man under arrest allegedly tried to take a youngster.
"We were alerted by the child's relatives who managed to stop him. The youngster was not injured in any way.
"The suspect has been handed over to a court for further questioning."
