Just days after a young giraffe was euthanised at Copenhagen Zoo, another zoo in Denmark has said it may put down another healthy giraffe.

Jyllands Park zoo announced that seven-year-old Marius could be put down if it manages to acquire a female giraffe, The Guardian reports.

Zoo keeper Janni Lojtved Poulsen told Ritzau (via the Daily Telegraph): "We can't have two males and one female. Then there will be fights."

She added that the probability of finding another place for Marius to live was small.

On Sunday, a healthy giraffe, also called Marius, was killed because of rules imposed by a European zoo association to deter inbreeding.
