Video: Shark repelling devices gain popularity
A surge in shark attacks in Hawaii over the past year hasn't stopped people from surfing and swimming in its warm ocean waters. But it has spurred a huge increase in sales of devices that claim deter sharks.
The most recent invention costs US$400. It wraps around the ankle and emits an electrical pulse, whieh, the creator claims, puts sharks off and sends them packing.
Does it work? Many experts are sceptical, and only time will tell.
Last year alone, there were at 14 reported shark attacks, and just last month a kayaker was killed by a shark in Maui.
