Cruise passenger goes missing off ship in Cayman Islands




A 65-year-old man has gone missing while on a cruise holiday on The Independence of the Seas, one of the world's largest cruise ships, off the Cayman Islands.

The tourist, from Canada, was reported missing on Tuesday morning by his wife, before the Royal Caribbean Cruises ship docked at Grand Cayman's port, reports Sky News

A search of the of the vessel and closed-circuit camera footage has proved fruitless.

Police say that sea search operations were also unsuccessful, according to police.

The man, who has not been named, is the second passenger to have gone missing from a Royal Caribbean ship in the last few days.

On Saturday, another Canadian man, 26-year-old Tien Phuoc Nguyen, leapt from a sister ship, Adventures of the Seas.

Mr Tien jumped from the ship off a remote Puerto Rican island on the final night of a week-long Caribbean cruise with his family.

Rescuers ended their search for him on Monday.

The missing 65-year-old was last seen entering his room on the liner just before midnight, according to Tracy Quan, a spokeswoman for Royal Caribbean.
