Three men were found dead in a sauna in Ennepetal, Germany after passing out.

The friends had been to their Christmas party and had been drinking heavily before going to one of the men's sauna on 8 December.

According to Sky News, the metal workers, aged between 36 and 48, were believed to be over four times the legal limit to drive.

The Local reports that police described their deaths as a "tragic accident".

Saunas in countries such as Germany, Finland and Latvia are popular places for locals and tourists to visit.

In Germany, nudity is accepted and the sauna is seen as a place of healing, rather than socialising.
