At least six dead in Nairobi bus grenade attack
At least six people have died and 30 injured after a grenade attack on a bus in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.
The grenade hit the 32-seater bus near the Eastleigh suburb, which is home to thousands of ethnic Somalis.
The IB Times reports that explosion caused a six-vehicle pile-up at 5.45pm on Saturday, and 10 people remain in a critical condition.
According to the BBC, the interior ministry said on its Twitter account: "A group of assailants threw a grenade into a bus with 32 seats.
"The attack is an unfortunate and cowardice incident which will not be tolerated."
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Eastleigh suburb has suffered several attacks in the past by Somalia's al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab militant group that carried out the four-day siege at the Westgate shopping centre in Nairobi in September, in which 67 people died.
The news comes just days after a grenade was thrown at British tourists in Mombasa.
According to the BBC, the two British tourists were in a car travelling from the Indian Ocean coastal resort of Diana to a wildlife safari at Kenya's Maasai Mara national park.
The head of Kenya's anti-terror police unit said the grenade failed to explode, and that officers were in pursuit of the attacker.
