Beautiful photos: Sony World Open Photography competition entries
Calling all amateur photographers! The Sony Photography Awards 2014 needs your photos.
Photographers of all nationalities, ages, backgrounds and experience levels are being invited to enter the competition, which offers ten diverse categories, from Action to Travel.
This year, the Huffington Post's Lifestyle editor, Poorna Bell, will be on the judging panel, as well as Simon Barnett, director of photography at CNN Digital.
The overall winner of the Open Photographer of the Year competition will receive a $5,000 cash prize. Judges will also select the best single winning shot for each of the ten Open categories, each of whom will win the latest Sony digital equipment. Three photographers under 20 years old will be chosen as winners of the Youth competition.
Winning finalists will also have their work exhibited at a dedicated exhibition at Somerset House in London from 1-14 May 2014.
