A multi-million-pound yacht was destroyed in a fire at East Cowes Marina on the Isle of Wight.

Fire and rescue crews were called to the marina on Tuesday after reports of smoke coming from the superyacht.

The 76ft yacht, named Kahu, is worth more than £8million and was parked in the marina as it is up for sale.

According to the Daily Mail, witnesses saw the flames quickly engulf the vessel.

Residents were told to remain indoors and keep their doors and windows closed because of the volume of smoke, Isle of Wight County Press Online reports.

Two fire engines arrived at the scene at 1pm and the fire was still alight at 6pm.

ITV News reports that the boat sunk on Wednesday. Divers are now trying to contain the diesel from leaking out into the waters.

It was believed to be on sale for between £4 and £5million.
