Snake on an Easyjet plane! Passenger smuggles reptile on Tel Aviv to Luton flight

Updated

A passenger was arrested at Luton Airport after Easyjet cabin crew discovered he had managed to sneak a snake on board an Israel to England flight.

The passenger managed to get the reptile, believed to be a corn snake, past security at Tel Aviv and onto the plane by putting it in a "small takeaway box".

But his slithery secret was discovered, and the flight crew alerted police, who met him upon landing at Luton Airport.

According to the Metro, fellow passengers took to Twitter to share the experience, with one writing: "No Samuel L, but an actual snake on a plane. Police about to meet @easyjet arriving from Tel Aviv to Luton",

According to the Daily Telegraph, an Easyjet spokeswoman said the scene wasn't quite as dramatic as the Samuel L Jackson film. She said: "The snake was kept in a small takeaway box throughout the flight.

"The non-poisonous snake remained in its container at all times and passengers were not in any danger.

"We have raised the issue with the airport to understand why the animal was not detected during security.

"The safety of passengers is always our highest priority."
