UK weather: Temps to reach 21C this weekend before warm week in Britain

After days of heavy rain across the country, Britain is to experience a warm weekend with forecasters predicting temperatures of up to 21C.

Lindsay Mears, forecaster at the Met Office, told the Daily Telegraph: "It's going to be a lot better than it has been, much drier and brighter. There will still be some mist in the mornings, which is not unusual. It's already looking better for next weekend and we are expecting the finer weather to stay around for a bit.

"It should be a lot more pleasant for most of us."

Meanwhile, Jonathan Powell, forecaster for Vantage Weather Services, tells the Daily Express: "Virtually the entire UK will see warm, dry weather with temperatures comfortably getting into the 70s – and high 70s in the South.

"This is certainly the best spell of weather we will have seen since the summer and is set to last at least into next weekend."

For Saturday, the Met Office predicts: "A few scattered showers and variable amounts of cloud, but some reasonable sunny spells too for many."

Sunday could see some "rain for northern parts of England and parts of Wales. Drier elsewhere with the best of the sunshine being in Eastern parts of England and Scotland. Breezy in the north."

While next week will be "drier and more settled further south and east where it will still feel warm."
