Video: Tourist plane makes emergency landing on motorway in South West France
The pilot of a tourist plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a busy motorway in the South West France over the weekend.
The precarious manoeuvre was carried out on Saturday afternoon close to the town of Albi in the department of Tarn, after an engine problem occurred on the light aircraft.
Miraculously, the pilot, Bernard Debril, managed to land the plane on two lanes of traffic without touching a single vehicle or injuring anyone.
Only the pilot and the owner of the plane were on board at the time, reports Guide 2 Midi Pyrenees, and neither of them were hurt.
The only damage done was a a burst front tyre on the small aircraft.
According to thelocal.fr, traffic was disrupted in the area, but drivers did manage to continue their journey beneath the aircraft's wing.
