A British holidaymaker has died after a heavy night of partying on holiday in Ibiza.

John Sharp, 31, was found floating dead in the sea near the Playa d'en Bossa resort on Saturday morning.

According to the Metro, a post mortem examination revealed he had taken a cocktail of drugs as well as drinking heavily.

The Sun reports that police spent days trying to identify him after he was found near the Bora-Bora nightclub wearing only his swimming trunks.

The paper adds that he was identified by his parents after they flew out to the island.

A source told the Daily Mail: "We believe he had been dead around 24 hours when he was found floating in the sea.

"He went out partying last Thursday night and was last seen alive by witnesses police have spoken to around 8am the day before he was found dead."
