Hundreds of British tourists have been hit with food poisoning at a luxury hotel in Side, Turkey.

Guests at five-star all-inclusive Sentido Perissia Hotel suffered diarrhoea and vomiting after eating undercooked food.

A five-month old baby and a number of adults required hospital treatment, the Daily Mail reports.

Thomas Cook could see at least 20 claims for compensation from the guests.

The tour operator said it was suspending bookings at the hotel and providing alternative accommodation for its customers.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, mother-of-three Zoe Williams, 32, said: "Both my mother and I were sick within days of arriving. The hygiene was just not up to scratch.

"Everyone we spoke to said someone in their party had been ill."

Solicitors Simpson Millar said it had been contacted by 20 people in the last week.

A Thomas Cook spokesperson told the Daily Mail: "We can confirm that a number of customers staying at the Sentido Perissia, Turkey, have recently reported a stomach upset lasting 24 - 48 hours.

"The hotel has put in place a number of preventative measures to minimise any further illness. Our team in resort are providing assistance to our guests and we will continue to closely monitor the situation."
