Teen dupes travel agent bosses and flies business class around the world

A teenage boy has admitted to jetting around the world, flying business class and staying in five-star hotels, after duping bosses at the travel agent where he worked.

Reece Scobie, 19, spent more than £70,000 on luxury trips to Singapore, Dubai, Los Angeles and other expensive cities during a six-month spending spree.

He managed to con travel agent bosses, a rival firm and even convinced Scottish court officials to give him back his passport.

Scobie, who lives with his mother in Perthshire, admitted the scam when he appeared at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday, The Scottish Sun reports.

According to the Daily Mail, he spend just two months working for Thomson Travel but continued to use the company's passwords to book flights and hotels after leaving the job.

At one point, he was in a British Airways airport lounge and realised that the previous computer user, who happened to work for Cambridge Business Travel, had not logged off.

He accessed the company's booking system and booked flights to LA, New York, Atlanta, Abu Dhabi and Singapore, the BBC reports.

He was arrested in early 2013 and when he appeared in Perth Sheriff Court he said he had a job in the travel industry and would need his passport. He received his passport after producing fake documents about the "job".

Jim Laverty, defending, told the court that his client had been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.

Scobie's sentence was deferred for psychiatric and restriction of liberty order reports.
