Woman's body found on Morecambe beach

A woman's body was found on Morecambe beach in South Lancashire on Saturday morning.

Police said the woman was in her early 50s and believed she was on a night out on Friday.

The Lancaster Guardian reports that a large part of the Morecambe Promenade and the central beach has been closed off.

A police spokesperson told the Lancashire Evening Post the woman's death was "unexplained".

The spokesperson added: "We believe she was on a night out last night, so something has happened to her in the early hours of this morning."

The woman has not been named.
