The heart-stopping moment a jet boat crashed into a spectator area during a boat race in the US has been caught on camera.

The incident happened at a US Spring Boat Association race at the Field of Dreams track in Albany, Oregon.

According to the Seattle Post Intelligencer, track announcer Bill Lundun said the driver of the boat was heading into a 16-foot-wide channel on Saturday when he clipped an island and crashed through land barriers at 50 to 60mph.

The footage shows the boat smashing through the fence in front of the crowd but, thankfully, only one person suffered minor injuries.

The driver, Bud Florko, dislocated a few fingers in the incident.

Bud was taking part in a sprint boat race, which, according to the Daily Mail, is "a motor sport in which crews of two race 13 foot aluminum hulled boats around a small 20 to 30 turn, water-filled 12 to 18ft wide track at speeds up to 80mph".
