This zookeeper is lucky to be alive after a crocodile snapped its jaws shut around his head while he was attempting to perform a death-defying trick to a crowd of tourists.

The incident was caught on film by one of the tourists in the audience at the Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm and Zoo in Thailand, and it shows Pravit Suebmee 27, place his head inside the crocodile's mouth.

But the animal decided to bite down on the Suebmee's head, which wasn't part of the plan.

The croc begins to shake Suebmee around but, luckily for him, decides to let go reasonably quickly.

According to the Huffington Post, Uthen Youngprapakorn, owner of the Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm and Zoo, told the Bangkok Post the incident was the first of its kind at the zoo.

He added that the crocodile might have been spooked when the trainer slipped and touched its cheek.

The Daily Express reports that Suebmee, who's worked at the zoo for eight years, escaped with minor head injuries.

Back in March, a photographer had a too-close-for-comfort encounter with a crocodile while he was taking pics of the animals on a riverbank in Costa Rica.

The man was so focused on taking pictures of one particular crocodile that he failed to spot another one right beside it - until it lunged out of the water towards him.
