A woman's body has washed up on a beach in Suffolk.

The body of the woman, described as "elderly", was spotted by two members of the public on the beach at Shingle Street, near Hollesley, according to the BBC.

Suffolk police said the death was being treated as unexplained, and work was being carried out to establish the woman's identity.

She was pronounced dead at the scene after the arrival of the emergency services, which included the Air Ambulance, reports the East Anglian Daily Times.

The news comes just days after the body of a woman in her 30s was discovered by a walker on a beach in East Lothian, Scotland.

And, back in June, the body of a woman was found on Winterton Beach, near Great Yarmouth, in Norfolk.
