A British father-of-two fears he may lose his leg after a horrendous water slide accident on holiday in Turkey.

Des Jarvis, 45, broke his leg in six places after he went careering down a slide so fast he flew out of the chute and into the pool wall opposite.

The incident occurred last August, but Mr Jarvis is still on crutches, and doctors have warned him he could lose the lower part of his limb as the bone has become infected.

Des booked the £5,500 holiday to the Didim Beach Resort in Altinkum as a treat for his girlfriend Nikki and their children.

But he is now suing holiday company First Choice over the incident.

Speaking to The Sun, Mr Jarvis said: "It's ruined my life. I used to be in the gym every day and play golf twice a week. Now I struggle to get upstairs.

"The tour operators couldn't care less about what had happened. They went out of their way not to help - it's destroyed my faith in humanity."

A First Choice spokesman told the Daily Mail: "First Choice is sorry to hear about the injuries sustained by Mr Jarvis, whilst he was holidaying at the Didim Beach Hotel in Turkey in 2012.

"We would like to reassure customers that incidents of this type are very rare, the health and safety of our customers is of paramount importance to First Choice and we operate the strictest quality standards across all of our hotels."
