A 31-year-old British woman has been found dead outside an apartment block in the Cayman Islands.

Former lap dancer Shakara Taylor, who was originally from Blackpool, was discovered on the island's Seven Mile Beach (pictured above).

The Sun reports that she was found outside the luxury Caribbean Club apartments and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Daily Mail, Ms Taylor moved to the island three years ago to start a new life with her fiancé, David Ravenscroft.

Although the circumstances of her death are not yet known, police have ruled out foul play.

Cayman27 reports that Shakara's close friend, Daniella Clarke, paid tribute to her, saying: "She was very popular. If Shakara was in a room, everybody knew about it. She was famous in her eyes - she called herself a Princess. Now she has been taken from us so suddenly and so tragically."

Other friends paid tribute on Twitter. One, called Alison, wrote: "RIP Shakara Taylor, you was not just beautiful on the outside but also on the inxxxxxx."

Another friend, Tia Grimshaw, wrote: "Wow, it's not right that a few months ago I was sat on the same table as her. Sleep tight beautiful."

A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed the death of Ms Taylor on May 28.
