A Leeds University student is celebrating after landing a £20,000-a-year job as a water slide tester for First Choice holidays.

Sebastian Smith, 22, travelled to the Iberotel Makadi Saraya Splash Resort in Hurghada, Egypt, for the final of the competition, where he beat four others who had been selected from more than 2,000 applicants.

The Mirror reports that Sebastian, from Somerset, now has a six-month contract with the company. On top of his salary, he'll enjoy all-expenses paid trips to Faliraki, Turkey and Jamaica so that he can test out the water slides in First Choice resorts.

He's taking over from former tester Tommy Lynch, who did the job for four years.

Tommy told The Mirror that it was "the best job in the world", but added: "there is a serious side and it carries a lot of responsibility."

Sebastian said: "My friends and family are going to absolutely love hearing this news. I'm ecstatic right now. It's been a privilege to get this far."
