Bus carrying 60 wedding guests topples over in Northern Ireland
Fourteen people were taken to hospital after a bus carrying 60 wedding guests toppled into a ditch and onto its side.
The accident happened on the Ballynahinch Road in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, as the vintage Routemaster took guests from the Fisherwick Presbytarian Church service to the reception at the Montalto Estate in Co Down.
They had been attending the wedding of London-based solicitors Amy Adair and Robbie Sinclair.
It is thought one of the worst injuries suffered in the accident was a broken pelvis.
The Rev Derek McKelvy praised the guests who managed to continue onto the reception, telling the Belfast Telegraph: "Given the very difficult circumstances, everyone really rallied together to make the night a real special occasion. And it was a very good night."
Passenger Ruth Green told the BBC: "We were going along the road and everybody was just chatting away, and then we just veered off the road and into the ditch and then the bus just fell over into the field.
"It was quite slow motion, so it was quite scary, I think, for everybody involved. The bus just fell on its side, and it was just a mad scramble to get off the bus."
According to the Belfast Telegraph, a spokesman for Belfast Tours Limited,said they would be fully co-operating with the police investigation into the incident, adding: "Our first thoughts are with those injured in the accident and we wish them a full and speedy recovery."
