Family fears woman left brain damaged after accident at Abu Dhabi hotel will die

The family of a British woman who was left brain damaged after a wooden panel fell on her head at a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi fear she is 'dying before our eyes'.

Natalie Creane, 34, was put in a medically induced coma in March to protect her against severe seizures she has suffered since the freak accident in 2008.

But her family say without treatment costing millions of pounds, her next seizure could be her last, the Daily Mail reports.

They say she urgently needs to go to a specialist surgery at a neurological hospital in New York but they cannot afford to pay for the treatment after receiving just £36,290 in compensation.

Mrs Creane has been in intensive care more than 20 times in the past four and a half years and recently came out of her latest coma at the Rashid Hospital in Dubai.

Her friends say "every day she runs the risk of another major seizure."

Speaking to the Sunday People, Natalie's mother Angie, 63, said: "Natalie was absolutely beautiful. I know every mum will say that about their child but she really did light up a room when she walked in.

"We've seen things no parent should see their child go through. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It's devastating. It's destroyed our family.

"Derick and I believe Natalie is dying before our eyes."

Natalie's family has set up a Facebook page, Justice for Natalie, to highlight their story.

Ms Creane was staying at the luxury Emirates Palace hotel with her then fiancé Trevor who had just proposed. She was knocked unconscious when a loose panel fell from her wardrobe and hit her on the forehead just minutes after arriving at the hotel.

In March 2013, Natalie won a five-year battle for compensation and was paid £36,290 by Emirates Palace, Kempinski Hotels and Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company.
