Holidaymakers were forced to wait for around three and a half hours for their flight to to Spain to take off on Saturday - after a water truck got stuck underneath the plane.

Passengers had been due to fly from Manchester Airport to Majorca at 2.55pm, but were forced to wait after the vehicle carrying water between planes got stuck under the Easyjet aircraft after accidentally backing up under it.

The truck had to be prised out from underneath the plane before the holidaymakers could go anywhere.

A spokesman for the airline told Manchester Evening News: "Easyjet can confirm that flight EZY1911 from Manchester to Palma was delayed for around three-and-a-half hours after a service vehicle caused damage to the Airbus A319 aircraft due to operate the flight.

"A new aircraft was brought in to operate the flight which departed around 6pm.
"Easyjet would like to apologise to the passengers for any inconvenience caused."
