British mother dies while singing karaoke with family at Egypt hotel

A mum from Liverpool has died in front of her family while singing karaoke at a luxury hotel in Egypt.

Leah Rice, 41, collapsed in front of shocked holidaymakers at the five-star Hilton Sharks Hotel in Sharm-el Sheik on Sunday night.

She had been enjoying a night with her family at the Waves Pool Bar when it is thought she suffered a heart attack.

Ms Rice, whose daughter, Jessica, 21, was also on the trip, had jetted out to Egypt on 21 January, and was due to return home today (31 January).

On the morning of her holiday, Ms Rice, who owned her own catering company Leah Rice Lunches, posted a message on Facebook to let her customers know that her lunch service would be postponed for 10 days.

According to Click Liverpool, she wrote: "To all my lovely customers ....the lunches are taking a short break and will be back on the 31st of January ....well rested, invigorated and with new menus!!!

"See you soon xxx."

Leah was from Formby, in Merseyside, also home to football stars like Steven Gerrard.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, friend Anne Williams, who'd known Leah for 25 years, said: "She loved to sing and she absolutely loved karaoke. Music was her passion, along with food and she was so good at both.

"Like so many people I will really, really miss her.

"Leah had worked so hard to get her life and her business to where they were and it's just such a shock."
