A man who was driving a horse-drawn carriage to a wedding party in Dumfries and Galloway was seriously injured in a collision with a blue/grey Honda CRV yesterday.

BBC News reports that the accident happened near the Mabie House Hotel in Dumfries and Galloway at about 2.10pm on Saturday.

The carriage was transporting the bride and her father, along with the 45-year-man who was driving and his daughter, to the wedding reception.

The carriage driver is in a serious but stable condition in hospital. The other three passengers were taken to hospital but released after treatment for minor injuries and returned to the wedding.

A vet attended the scene and treated the horse for minor injuries.

Police are investigating the crash and have appealed for anyone who saw either of the vehicles travelling between Dumfries and the Mabie Forest turnoff before the crash to get in touch.
